The War Graves of Great Ponton

The church at Great Ponton is well known to motorists dashing up and down the A1, which runs just a few yards to the west. The tower was built in 1519, paid for by a local wool merchant, but the church is about 200 years older.

I came here to pay my respects to two graves of servicemen cared for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. These are the graves are those of:

Date of Death

Died 28 November 1942

Age 36 years old

He was the son of Joseph and Sarah Lamb. He left a widow,  Mary Mabel Short Lamb, of Eyemouth, Berwickshire. He died at Grantham, Lincs
